Renault has won a duo of accolades at the What Car? Electric Car Awards 2024, with the Renault Scenic E-Tech 100% Electric winning the ‘Best Electric Family SUV’ category and the forthcoming Renault 4 picking up the highly coveted ‘Readers’ Choice’ award.

On the renowned magazine and website announcing the Scenic E-Tech 100% Electric as the winner of the ‘Best Electric Family SUV’ category, Steve Huntingford, Editor of What Car?, said: "Just like the MPV that once wore the same badge, the new Scenic makes a fantastic family car, thanks to its spacious and thoughtfully designed interior. It's also a comfortable and quiet choice that's reassuring to drive. And when you consider the long range and generous roster of standard equipment, it's incredibly well priced."

The award is another illustration of how the Scenic E-Tech 100% Electric has taken the electric car market by storm since it was announced late last year, including being named ‘Car of the Year 2024’ at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.

Combining the space, comfort, usability and connectivity that a family needs to travel freely and safely, the pure electric SUV features a compact motor (with 125kW/170hp or 160kW/220hp) plus a 60kW or 87kWh battery pack for a range of up to 379 miles. The 87kWh Long Range version is available in techno, esprit Alpine and iconic trim, while the 60kWh Comfort Range model comes exclusively in techno trim. The range starts from £37,495 OTR.

Following the Renault 5 winning the ‘Readers’ Choice’ award in 2023, the Renault 4 continues the brand’s success in the category. Out of a shortlist of electrics cars selected by What Car?, readers voted the Renault 4 the one that they are most looking forward to seeing in showrooms.

Like the Renault 5, the Renault 4 will be fully electric and boast an exterior that is influenced by the original. The car was teased as a concept called the Renault 4EVER Trophy in 2022, with styling echoing the original’s versatility. The full production version of the car is set to be revealed before the end of this year.

Steve Huntingford added: "Renault clearly knows a thing or two about building electric cars that capture the imagination. At both last year's Electric Car Awards and our overall Car of the Year Awards in January, What Car? readers voted the Renault 5 as the most exciting upcoming model. And now the Renault 4 has seen off a host of new electric cars to top the public poll."

Guillaume Sicard, Managing Director Renault UK, said: “Renault has set out to be a leader in electric mobility, and these awards underline the success we are enjoying today and the excitement we are generating for the future. What Car?’s testers are among the most rigorous in the industry, and these awards once again demonstrate Renault Scenic's class-leading position and all-round abilities, as well as reaffirming everyone's excitement for the upcoming launches of the Renault 4 and 5. The momentum building around our EVs is second-to-none.”
