City Motors Volvo Update

Important Update from City Motors Volvo

I am sorry to have to inform you that after many successful years working closely with Volvo, we have amicably agreed that our City Motors Volvo dealership at Castle Court close to the centre of Bristol will no longer be classed as a Volvo Franchised Dealer from July 1st 2021.

However, I am delighted to inform you that we have decided to retain the dealership which will continue as a Volvo Used Car & Servicing Specialist. We believe this is the ideal location from which to serve our Volvo customers in Bristol and Bath.

With our fully equipped workshops and Volvo trained technicians, we are confident that we can continue to offer our Volvo customers the expected excellent level of service for routine Volvo maintenance, servicing and MOTs. Our existing level of investment will be reflected in our retail prices, enabling us to maintain our extremely competitive pricing policy within the Bristol & Bath region.

We will also continue to sell Premium Used Volvo cars from one of the region’s largest used car displays, where you will find an excellent choice of Volvo cars prepared to the high standards that you have come to expect.

We will of course continue to contact you with service and MOT reminders and Volvo customers with a City Motors service plan, will still be able to use this cost-effective offering which will operate in exactly the same way as before.

We believe that our current location in Central Bristol remains important for our customers in the Bristol and Bath territories and that easy access and convenience will remain an important factor for your future MOT and Servicing needs.

I know changes can be unsettling, but please be assured that as part of Carco Group, Bristol’s largest independent family-run Franchised Dealer group, City Motors will continue to offer our Volvo customers a wide range of Volvo Used cars and assistance for all of your after sales needs.

We have been privileged to serve our Volvo customers and we have made many friends along the way. We very much hope this journey can continue with great customers who we wish to carry on serving for many years to come.

We have prepared some Frequently Asked Questions below which we believe you may ask. We have also set up a direct email address for you to contact should you have any other questions or concerns.

Finally, your custom has been and will remain very important to us and we look forward to welcoming you back to Castle Court very soon.

With kindest regards,

Robin Cook

Managing Director

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q.  Why are City Motors and Volvo ending their agreement?

A.  We could not find a mutually acceptable option in Bristol to support Volvo’s future representation requirements.

Q.  What does this mean for me as a customer?

A.  There are 3 elements to consider:

i) Any future New vehicle purchase would have to be placed with a franchised dealer although we are still able to assist with this if you would like City Motors to facilitate the purchase, effectively acting as a broker on your behalf

ii) A future Used vehicle purchase will operate in exactly the same way as it does today. We will remain as one of the largest Volvo retailers of Used vehicles in the south west

iii) Servicing, maintenance and repairs would again operate in exactly the same way as they do today. The only exception would be warranty work which would need to be undertaken by a franchise dealer

Q.  Will you continue to contact me for my service and MOT?

A.  Yes

Nothing will change, we will continue to contact you to book for servicing and MOT’s as we do today.

Q.  Will my Volvo warranty still be valid if City Motors service my car?

A. Yes

Your Volvo warranty will still be valid as Volvo’s service maintenance schedule will always be maintained using Genuine Volvo parts and recommended oils.

Q.  Will my City Motors Service Plan still be valid?

A.  Yes

This remains exactly the same. You can continue to use this convenient and cost-effective way to pay for your servicing and MOTs. If you do not have a City Motors Service Plan please ask for details and we can explain the benefits.

Q.  What training will your staff receive?

A.  All of our technicians will continue to be trained at Volvo’s dedicated, state of the art Training Centre in Daventry

Q.  What if there is a technical problem with my vehicle outside the scope of routine maintenance or servicing?

A.  We will continue to have access to Volvo’s special tooling and latest diagnostic equipment including access to their technical team through the Volvo systems to which we subscribe.

Q.  Will you still be able to carry out software updates?

A.  Yes, with access to Volvo’s latest diagnostic equipment and the Volvo systems to which we subscribe, we will still be able to offer all forms of software updates just as we do today.

Q.  Will you still be able to offer Volvo Assistance?

A.  We will no longer be able to offer Volvo Assistance, however we do have an alternative and comparable Assistance option available to all customers.

Q.  Will you continue to sell quality Volvo Used cars

With many years in the Volvo franchise we have maintained a wide range of sources from which to acquire quality Used Volvo cars and from the 1st July 2021 we will continue to offer Used and Nearly New Volvo cars

Q.  Will you stop selling New Volvo cars

A.  Yes

From the 1st July 2021 we will hand the New Car franchise back to Volvo. However, should you wish to purchase a New Volvo we would be pleased to facilitate the purchase, effectively acting as a broker on your behalf.

Q.  Will you continue to offer the same level of service that you have over many years

A.  Yes

The majority of our Volvo Sales and Volvo Service staff will remain as the same point of contact. We all remain committed to continuing the excellent service you have been accustomed to.
