Citroën Adopts ChatGPT To Enhance The Onboard Experience

Citroën has announced the introduction of ChatGPT on the C4, C4 X, C5 X, ë-Berlingo, ë-SpaceTourer, Berlingo Van and Dispatch, offering an easier and more relaxing onboard experience. This innovation illustrates the commitment of Citroën to integrating technology on its vehicles that enhances the driving experience and the overall comfort and functionality of life onboard.

Developed by OpenAI, ChatGPT is integrated into the infotainment system using SoundHound's voice and audio recognition system. As an artificial intelligence language model, ChatGPT has been developed to generate responses based on in-depth learning, offering an interactive in-car experience that makes everyday life easier. The addition of ChatGPT to Citroën models improves voice recognition in relation to precision and responsiveness, whilst also enriching its capabilities, transforming the infotainment system. The integration of ChatGPT means that it is a travel companion capable of understanding and answering complex questions on various subjects, including tips on what to do in a city, historical information and much more.

ChatGPT is available via the Connect PLUS pack or through the activation of connected navigation services for models ordered before July 2023.

Improved voice recognition

One of the main benefits brought by the arrival of ChatGPT is significant advances in natural language processing which has led to improved voice recognition. Voice recognition has become more accurate and responsive, enabling drivers to interact with their vehicles in a natural and effortless way. Drivers can now use voice commands to perform a variety of tasks, such as adjusting the temperature or navigating to a destination, all without taking their eyes off the road.

Tests carried out in May 2024 show that the new system reduces by almost 68% the number of misunderstandings that can lead to the reply "I didn't understand your question". The same tests showed that ChatGPT's level of fluidity and interactivity increased the use of voice recognition by almost 70%.

Customers can use ChatGPT in the same way they use their current voice assistant available in Citroën models. It can be activated in 3 ways (depending on the model):

- By saying the existing wake-up word "Hello Citroën".

- By pressing the voice recognition button on the steering wheel.

- By pressing the microphone widget on the display.

The range of applications is infinite, and when applied to the C4, C4 X, C5 X, ë-Berlingo or ë-SpaceTourer, ChatGPT can be the ideal companion to change family journeys for the better, transforming them into a rewarding experience for all. The customer journey

For Citroën customers who ordered a vehicle after 3 July 2023, ChatGPT is now included in the Connect PLUS pack. A subscription to the Connect PLUS pack is included in the price of the vehicle for a period of 12 months, with the option to renew by subscription thereafter from as little as £3.99/month. If the 12-month free trial is still active, ChatGPT will be added at no extra cost for the remainder of the trial. If the Connect PLUS pack trial has expired, ChatGPT will be available by renewing the Connect PLUS subscription.
